Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: s Wind Stength: 18/24 Surf / Sea State: nice swell with a short flatis Air Temperature: 12 Sea Temperature: 10 Weather: cloudy with rain then sunny periods :) Max Speed: 27 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 20 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
The forecast was always a bit miserable with rain and cold so when I
arrived at the Dip at 10ish with the tide high and rain I wasn't in any
hurry to get out after last Sundays sail in the cold - not much fun and
also we have had a little bump in our lovely camper so am a bit fed up :( I
had a nice cup of coffee in Roger Vickers campervan and a nice chat with
several sailors :) Then Neil Hurrell and Steve Carter were brave enough to
rig 6m and go out but although they said it was good I wasn't convinced so
watched the action from the comfort of my van.As the tide dropped and the
rain stopped I decided to give it ago, I didn't really want to rig a fully
cammed sail but have no choice with my 6.6 needing a repair so went for the
7m ,nearly a metre bigger than most but it was fine and was never once
overpowdered !!! Things were slow to start but with the tide dropping there
was a short section of flatish water over by the River Deben :) you could
sail slow in the really rough bit and then bear off toweards the shingle
bar and it was really good fun,the sun even managed to show it's face in
the end - so not a bad day in the end :)
